Fresh Start is a transitional housing, drug and alcohol treatment, and supportive service agency founded by John Walls in 1989. Fresh Start serves adult men and women from Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware, and Chester Counties. We currently have 280 operational beds with 70 employees providing transitional housing and related supportive services to approximately 500 men and women annually. Our service model has been tailored to serve three very distinct populations of men and women, to include:

Adult disadvantaged chemically dependent or dually-diagnosed men and women.
Homeless chemically dependent and/or mentally ill Veterans
Men and women who are being released or diverted from incarceration for non-violent drug related offenses. Fresh Start is the bench mark for diversion and reintegration housing and supported services in Philadelphia County. We currently partner with the Office of Addiction Services (OAS), Philadelphia County Treatment Court, Veteran's Court, and the Forensic Intensive Recovery (FIR) Program to offer our housing/recovery model as an alternative to incarceration.
